Guineas double for Bosustow
Trainer Annabel Archibald need not have worried about the heavy track conditions at the Gold Coast on Saturday, with 3YO colt Bosustow relishing in the wet conditions to score by six lengths in the Gr3. Gold Coast Guineas, delivering connections an emotional win.
The colt by Blue Point (IRE) is the second foal out of Bumbasina, making him the younger half brother to star mareĀ Amelia’s Jewel, who went under the hammer just days earlier at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale.
Named after star WA and VFL footballer Peter ‘the Buzz’ Bosustow, who passed away recently, ‘the Buzz’ was certainly along for the ride on Saturday when Bosustow stormed away from them to score a Queensland Guineas double. He previously won the Magic Millions Guineas in January this year before running a Gr1. second to Here to Shock in New Zealand.
The training partnership of Annabel and husband Rob aimed Bosustow at a Queensland campaign with the Gr1. Stradbroke Handicap earmarked for his grand final. “He’s twice Group-1 placed, so hopefully we can go one better” Archibald said after the race.
Bosustow was bred by Amelia Park and sold through the Segenhoe Stud draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2023. Purchased for $900,000 for the Rosemont Alliance and a syndicate of owners, he is now looking like an excellent return on their investment. Amelia Park is proud to have retained a share in this outstanding colt and continue their involvement with the family.
